HOW TO USE

Sweet Peet 100% Organic

SWEET PEET has so many uses in landscaping and gardening. Use it to suppress weeds, add tilth and moisture retention to soils, help protect shrubs and trees from acid rain and high alkalinity and beautify your property.

BORDERS AND PERENNIAL GARDENS

When spread to a depth of 3 to 4 inches SWEET PEET will prevent compaction, retain moisture, suppress weeds, and slowly release nutrients to the root system for healthier, more vigorous plants. A 3 to 4 inch layer spread around plants is enough to suppress weed growth. During it formulation SWEET PEET goes through a thermal stage where weeds and weed seeds are destroyed, preventing contamination in your garden. SWEET PEET enriches and replenishes microbes that are often destroyed by harsh chemicals and acid rain.

TREES AND SHRUBS

Prepare a hole twice the size of the root ball being planted. Make a mix of 20% SWEET PEET and 80% soil from the dug hole. After the planting is placed in hole, use the prepared mixture to back-fill around the root ball. Water and tamp in firmly to avoid air pockets. In areas of poor drainage the addition of coarse sand to the planting mix will often aid in new root growth.

VEGETABLE GARDENS

Because SWEET PEET contains only all-natural, organic ingredients it is entirely safe to use in fruit and vegetable gardens and in orchards. Its near neutral pH value helps sweeten soil acidity which in turn releases locked-up nutrients to the feeder roots of garden plants. A 3 to 4 inch layer will aid in moisture retention, weed suppression, and increases tilth which helps promote new root growth. SWEET PEET will help soils which are overly acid or alkaline. Unlike other mulches which may contain chemical dyes and waste wood products, SWEET PEET offers all of these benefits in a safe fomulation. SWEET PEET also qualifies in any certified organic growing program.

ACID RAIN PROTECTION

Spread SWEET PEET as a mulch around the base of trees and shrubs to a thickness of 3 to 4 inches. Coverage should include all areas within the drip line of overhanging branches. Mulch should taper off near tree trunks or the shoots of shrubs so as not to come in contact with bark. Repeat application once a year. When SWEET PEET is used in this way it forms a protective barrier to absorb acid rain and gently neutralizes it before it enters the root zone. The same is true of its ability to neutralize alkaline road salts which may infiltrate your soil in the winter.
